Mary Mcleod Bethune

Educator, lecturer, executive, writer, Mrs. Bethune was chosen a few years ago as one of the fifty greatest living American women, and on that list she stood twelfth; but doubtless her greatest claim to fame will be in the field of her chosen profession—education, for there she has made a contribution to the Race which deservedly ranks her with Booker T. Washington.

CHANGING STANDARDS
Like all the other great educational leaders of America, Mrs. Bethune has been inspired by religious convictions to contribute to the educational and spiritual uplift of her people. Education received its first impetus from the church.
