“Remind God”: You Promised To Deliver

Message Magazine’s Online Devotional for Sunday, November 8, 2015

Today’s Scripture Promise:
“And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.” (Psalm 50:15).

Today’s Observation:
Whom do you call when you are in trouble? When you get a flat tire and have difficulty, do you call a car repair service? When your air conditioner is on the blink in July, do you call a technician? When you feel heart palpitations and radiating pain in your left arm, do you call the ambulance?

It’s natural for us to call the most likely service providers that match our problems, but what if our problems are too great? What if we have done all that logic would suggest and our troubles are not resolved? What if our troubles transcend the ability of any other human beings to help? Whom do we call then?

Frankly, there are no earthly problems we should attempt to tackle on our own, no matter how apparently mundane. Our heavenly Father has promised that whenever we are troubled, if we are His children, we can confidently call on Him and He will deliver us. But He does not stop there. Not only will He give us the deliverance we need, whether temporal or eternal, but our deliverance will glorify Him. That is to say, when He works on our behalf, it will make Him happy and others will see His favor, and desire to know more about Him.

Today’s Marching Orders:
Whenever you have a perplexing issue, no matter the type, immediately pray and remind God that He promised to deliver you, and begin to praise Him for doing so. This glorifies Him.
