Money Monday: Resolutions or Revolutions?

With eighteen days remaining in December 2021, it’s the time for resolutions. Making a financial resolution is a process. After all, you’re not going to just wake up on January 1st, 2022 and begin to execute financial changes in your life. Financial resolutions are not like flipping a switch. But, let me suggest to you that making financial resolutions are not the way to go for 2022 if you want growth and success.

If you are going to be successful in your finances and stewardship in 2022 think financial revolution and not resolution! Think and act revolutionary and not “resolutionary” ( I just made up that word). Why? Simple. The financial world–investing, digital currency, bitcoins, crypto currency, economic trends and money management– will be more revolutionary in 2022 than ever.  If you do not participate, opportunities could be lost.

Revolution is a fundamental change in the way of thinking about or visualizing something,  a change of paradigm. You may recall the example of GameStop investors from January 2021.  They affected the stock price, and the market, and along with other retail investors challenged Wall Street. We saw individuals with low or modest incomes  learn how to invest in the stock market. They learned to work retail investing platforms such as Robinhood, and they proved that one doesn’t need to have millions, be rich, or very educated to building wealth through investing. That was revolutionary! What’s revolutionary in 2022?

Banking

For some of you, where you bank will be a revolution. You have placed all your money into a traditional brick and mortar bank. For your entire existence, you walked into the bank, spoke with your favorite manager or teller and received services. Well, you can continue to leave your money there and earn 0.01% on thousands of dollars, or you can become revolutionary.

How is that interest rate on your money working for you today with the current inflation rate at 6.8%?  What are you going do,  in 2022? Revolutionary does not mean you become reckless and abandon financial principles or ignore due diligence. Revolutionary means you place money in an online bank or somewhere else, where you can earn at least 3% or more on your money. If the  banking options around you are evolving and revolutionary, why respond resolutionary?

Entrepreneurship

Each year you keep telling yourself this year I will start my business, non-profit, or ministry, but you never do. That’s because you’ve decided to make it a resolution and not a revolution. During this pandemic a significant number of people have decided not to return to their old job because of low wages.

To be revolutionary in this respect means you’ve decided to build wealth. Unlike working for someone else, when you’re an entrepreneur, there’s no limit to how lucrative, successful and transformative your business  can be. Plus, you have the ability to leave a legacy.  At some point, you can either sell the business or pass it down to a family member.

There are several benefits to starting your business such as building an enterprise with growth potential, and something that increases in value. You also have an opportunity to work in an area in which you are passionate and can also make a contribution to your community.

If you want to build wealth start your own business. Are you going make resolutions or execute revolutions in 2022?
